6 types of Hair brushes explained

1.  Vented brush is good for reducing frizziness. It is also good to use when blow drying the air blows between the bristles to make your hair less static, and it helps your hair dry more quickly too.
2. The round brush is perfect for creating soft shape, body and movement in your hair. If you are looking for some serious volume and style then you will need a good round brush.
3. The Ceramic brush, these types of hairbrushes have ceramic-coated barrels, which retain heat and temperature when used with a blow dryer. This makes it ideal if you want to give your hair soft waves/loose curls, or if you just want to dry it quickly and evenly
4. You need a paddle brush if you are after super sleek, smooth hair then the paddle brush is the one to go for. Use it before you straighten your hair for best results. It is also ideal if you have a lot of hair, as the bush has a large surface area.

5. Synthetic bristle brush, no matter how tangled your hair may be, there is still a brush out there that's perfect for you! Try a synthetic bristle brush. The synthetic bristles easily go through your hair and leave it looking shiny, soft and tangle free.

 6. Barrel brushes are the ones you use if you want waves/curls to form. They are perfect for turning the ends of bobs under rather than having them fall straight, and for styling your bangs.

7 ways to treat and cover up sunburn

Coming from the UK i am blessed with very fair skin, however since moving to sunny Australia i have found that i can not walk to my mail box without getting sunburnt :( so i have come up with 7 tips to cover up sunburn so you don't stick out like a tomato in a group of peaches.

1. Before you start trying to cover up a sunburn, the first thing you want to do is treat the burn
Take an aspirin, have a cool shower and moisturize your skin to help it heal.

2. Use Products that contains lactic acid will help with skin cell turnover and humectants attract water and increases flexibility of skin. Try to stay away moisturizers with emollients (like an ointment) which can actually irritate skin that’s been sunburned.

3.  Apply suncream, look for physical suncreams that contain zinc oxide or titanium oxide. Some people avoid physical suncreams because they tend to leave a white cast, but you can easily cover that up with makeup.

4. When you are sunburnt your skin is very red and you want to tone it down a bit, By using a green or yellow tinted moisturizer which hydrates while minimizing redness. This will help ease irritation and flushing and it also contains a slight color correcting tint to conceal redness.

5.  Apply hypoallergenic mineral makeup which will help cover up redness, offer sun protection and give you light and comfortable coverage. If you’re not a fan of mineral makeup, i suggest using airbrush spray makeup and tapping it very lightly with a non-latex sponge.

6.  Applying bronzer will help tone down redness on your forehead, nose, chin and cheeks as well as balance out your skin tone. Pick a bronzer color that doesn’t contain a lot of pink pigments and apply it very gently with a brush to reduce the redness of sunburn.

7.  You might have some areas that need a little more coverage than others and if so, you’ll want to pick up a corrective yellow concealer in stick form which is thicker in consistency. If you don't use a mineral powder for foundation, you can use a hypoallergenic powder to set your makeup and you’re all done!
Before

After

extra tip : While you have a sunburn, avoid any type of shimmery makeup which will actually accentuate the burned areas.

7 mascara tips for fuller lashes

  1. Apply two coats of mascara to build up the coverage, One surefire mascara trick for fuller lashes is to apply two coats of mascara! Now, you want to apply the mascara when the first coat is still wet.                     .     .
  2. Adding powder on your lashes, I actually had no idea that putting a bit of powder on your lashes before you put on your mascara can make your lashes look totally plump and oh-so-full!                                                                                     .
  3. Clear Primer, Before you put on any powder or any mascara, just make sure that you that you are slipping into some clear primer!                                                                                       .
  4.  Use brown and black mascara! All you do is use brown mascara first, then go lightly over it with the black! It'll give your lashes dimension and make them look so pretty!                                                                                         .
  5.  Another mascara trick that I use all of the time to really make my lashes look full and thick is applying the mascara to the underside of my lashes.                                                                                               .
  6. By using a zig-zag motion with your brush you can really make sure that each and every lash is coated up and looks beautiful!                                                                                                 .
  7. Blinking can coat your eyelashes wicked easily and can make sure that even the small, tiny lashes get coated! For me, what I do is I blink, zig-zag and then blink again.

Her blog xtooclothesforcomfortx.blogspot.com.au is full of great photos as she is an amazing photographer and im not just saying that because shes my best friend im saying that shes so good she was one of the photographers at my wedding!

Anytime i have been down or low on confidence she is always about helping you back up again. . .
You see thats what shes all about, she wants everyone to be who they are and who they want to be and not what anyone else wants them to be.

She is also the reason i developed into such a creative person, getting me so excited about what im making and always boosting my confidence. No matter how much i try to repay this wonderful person i will never be able to return the amount she has done for me.

Top 5 tips to update your Wardrobe without spending heaps

Have you ever open the doors to your wardrobe or pulled out your draws to find that you are always wearing the same items and maybe feel a little stale? I do it quite regularly as i am constantly changing my style to fit me at any given time but it always remains pretty out there when it comes down to it. . . ha ha ha

Because I can not afford to just go out and buy a whole new wardrobe when i feel i want to change my style , well at least freshen up my style. I follow these simple 5 steps to create an array of new outfits.

1. Accessorize :)
Accessories are key to any outfit and changing the ones your wear or the way you wear them can make a big difference, for example When wearing black and white (monochrome) you can choose to match this for a full monochrome look or pair it with a brightly coloured set of accessories to create a look that definitely stands out .

2.  Mix it up :)
Take items you already have and pair them differently and wear them differently. For example if you usually wear your plain shirts with your bright jeans, change it up and match your bright pattern jeans with a bright patterned shirt to clash and be ready to have all eyes on you because you are looking gorgeous!

3.  Lets get crafty :)
Do you have an over abundance of jeans, long skirts, long dresses, plain shirts? Well i did so i grabbed the ones i wasn't in love with anymore, grabbed my scissors and started cutting and pinning and sewing changing them into shorts, mini skirts, mid length dresses and crop tops and used acrylic paint or fabric paint to just go crazy painting. After doing this you truly are unique and individual no one will have the same clothing as you so step out and set the trends you are looking so sassy!

4. Clothing Swap :)
Grab a heap of friends and all of your grab your old clothes, accessories and shoes and have a sleep over, make piles and have a look through if you find something in a friends pile that you like get them to look in your pile and if you both agree then swap, its a very simple cheap way of updating your wardrobe. Also some areas have bigger swaps that are only a gold coin donation so for a dollar or a pound you can have a wider range to look through.

5. Layering :)
You can change an entire outfit by layering, adding a cardigan on top of a cute dress can add to your cuteness or adding a blazer to a simple jeans and shirt creates a more mature look ready for shopping, dinner or going out with the girls =P

Hope you find something in this list that helps you create your dream wardrobe on the cheap

Abbey Medieval Festival Date Day

I know what you are thinking and yes i am married and we still have dates but dating your husband is such a common and i will say essential thing. It keeps you as a couple learning and gaining positive experiences together keeping your relationship healthy.

This Saturday, me and hubbo went to the Abbey Medieval Festival in caboolture and it was brilliant. We spent the day walking around stall to stall checking out the wears and watching men hit each other with swords in armour (a secret dream of mine hehe) and also having the chance to dress up in period garb and go back in time hypothetically speaking.

The Abbey Festival was possibly the best date i have been on in a while, heaps of friendly people, great entertainment and authentic food and the mead oh the mead was divine.

Audrey Hepburn, a style icon

Although a fashion icon, Audrey’s fashion advice to women centered on inner beauty. She stressed the importance of "wearing your clothes", rather than letting them wear you. By developing an authentic and confident self, you can learn to let your clothing be in its rightful place, as an adornment of a more beautiful person.

Here are 20 style lessons we can learn from the beautiful Audrey Hepburn :

1. Sometimes, a simple dress is all you need. You can let your natural features steal the attention.

2. Gloves add a touch of sophistication to any outfit. Hepburn's cutesy look was elevated by her immaculate white gloves.

3. Always accessorize and protect your face with a stylish woven hat -- even if you're just cleaning the pool.

4. Striped t-shirts and cropped haircuts can still look super feminine. Hepburn's confidence made this boyish look shine.

5. Wearing a cozy nightgown is completely acceptable. You don't always have to wear skimpy things to bed -- comfort takes precedence!

6. A belt cinched in the middle of a dress creates a lovely shape. Hepburn amped up her plaid dress with a tight belt and an awesome beret.

7. You can wear a crown, even if you're not royalty. Hepburn knew that every woman should be treated like a princess.

8. Don't be afraid to rock a bow tie and a suit. Hepburn wore menswear to a T. Her heavy eyeliner and lipstick kept things sexy.

9. Collared shirts never go out of style. Furthermore, collared shirts and striped capris make for a great daytime look.

10. Your bangs don't always have to be worn straight across your forehead. Hepburn played around with her's for an edgy, asymmetrical, cut-up look.

11. You can never go wrong with a bold red lip. Hepburn knew this essential trick of the trade.

12. Simple color blocking creates a classic look. Just add some fun, chunky sandals and eye-catching earrings, like Hepburn did.

13. Take off your heels to play sports. But you can keep on that practical yet adorable summer dress...

14. Fun, bold prints are always a go. Hepburn's feminine makeup and wide-brimmed hat helped to balance out a strong pattern on a dress.

15. Women can wear loafers just as well as men. Hepburn's penny loafers looked adorable paired with her anorak and head scarf.

16. Sunglasses work with literally any outfit -- even formal ones. Hepburn exuded "cool" by pairing Wayfarer-style shades with her jeweled-out LBD.

17. Take a fashion risk, and wear that unique item. If Hepburn was anything, she was definitely an individual.

18. Find a classic and practical bag. Hepburn's simple tweed purse can be worn everyday with a wide variety of outfits.

19. In order to really stand out, opt for a different take on your wedding dress. Hepburn chose to wear a short white dress and her signature head scarf at her wedding to Andrew Dotti. Opting out of the traditional gown reflected her unique style.

20. Skip the bikini, and wear a bright one-piece bathing suit. You'll turn more heads in this often over-looked bathing suit choice.

Hope you enjoyed reading and maybe found something you want to try out,
Until next time

Weigh In Number (09/07/2014) Weight Loss Progress

Hey there my little cuppycakes,

I am proud to tell you that i have my second weigh in today and . . .

98.6kg / 217pounds / 15.5 stone WOO . . .

I am so happy with myself and here are some photos . . .

On the 5/7/14 i was 100.5 and now i am 98.6kg which is a loss of almost 2kg in 4 days.

I have done more exercise than normal playing with my nephews which is more fat burning than you think.

Also today i undertook a 3 hours fast paced walk up and down inclines and man am i puffed.

I have also been getting up in the morning earlier and going to sleep earlier as i have heard this helps with weight loss (and staying in bed until 11am isn't very productive haha)

I have also found a tasty alternative to cordial/ juice which is cool/cold water with a green tea and lemon teabag in it.  I expected that it would have a very bitter taste, however to my disbelief the drink was actually not bitter at all and i found that all my herbal teas made a tasty alternative to cordial and soft drink.

Hope i continue to loose weight :)

Coat Restyle

Who hasn't had someone give you their old clothes and they just do not suit your style, I sure have!
My solution is a . . .
RESTYLE FASHION MAKEOVER :)
This means take the item and cut it, glue it, sew it even paint it until it becomes something unique and absolutely you!!

Here's the coat i started with :

  • It was massive on me
  • Was boring
  • And did not flatter me

Here's the coat i have now:

  • I used darts to tailor the coat
  • I painted the buttons white
  • I added a waist band

Overall i love my new coat....
what do you think?

Current weight = 100.5kg/  221 lbs / 15.8 stone
This is just from healthy eating and just walking and doing more with my day :)

My goal is to get back down to the weight i was 3 years ago 60-70kg (130 lbs or 9/10 stone) i was healthier and because of my small frame of 5ft 4 (at a push) i hope to be petite again  :)
wish me luck !
